Foton Cavana Unveils Twin Flagships: "Xinghai" Heavy Truck and "Lefu V7" MPVan Complete Full-Range Capacity Matrix
On August 28, Foton's Brand Day and new-product launch ceremony was held in Beijing. Two new models from Foton Cavana Auto made their debut together: the Xinghai, a new-energy luxury flagship heavy truck, and the Lefu V7, an innovative "MPVan." With this launch, all three of Cavana's micro, light and heavy-duty platforms have entered mass production, completing a full product line that runs from vans and mini trucks through light trucks to heavy trucks, and forming end-to-end solutions covering urban distribution, inter-city freight, trunk-line logistics and commercial passenger transport.

"New-energy heavy trucks are growing fast, but roughly 90% of the market is still confined to short-haul operations under 300 km. Beyond 300 km, medium- and long-haul transport has never truly been cracked because of limited range and inefficient refuelling. Xinghai goes straight at that core pain point — with a flagship product, megawatt ultra-fast charging and an intelligent micro-grid — offering the industry a deployable, scalable path for its green transition," said Qin Zhidong, Deputy General Manager of BAIC Foton and Chairman of Foton Cavana Auto, at the launch.

The name "Xinghai" (Star-Sea) is a direct continuation of the earlier Beacon concept. "Star" stands for the flagship benchmark and the height of the technology; "sea" stands for the vast market and the freight geography it must cover. In 2024, Foton Cavana Auto unveiled its next-generation native new-energy heavy-truck core technology together with the Beacon concept vehicle, laying the technical foundation for product development. Beacon means lighthouse — and that beam has now illuminated the complete journey from technology to product.
Today, the lighthouse beam has become a shining star: the Cavana Xinghai new-energy luxury flagship heavy truck officially went on sale, answering expectations with "five-star" value across energy efficiency, productivity, intelligence, safety and comfort.
- Energy efficiency: a "sail-shaped" streamlined body works together with a self-developed electric drive axle to cut electricity consumption by 15%–20% per 100 km versus peers, saving owners roughly RMB 20,000 per year.
- Productivity: dual battery-electric and hydrogen fuel-cell routes deliver ranges of over 600 km and over 1,000 km respectively. Built on an 800 V high-voltage platform with megawatt ultra-fast charging, six minutes of charging adds 100 km of range — about 2,500 extra km and RMB 15,000 more revenue per month. Whole-vehicle B10 life reaches 1.6 million km, validated through extreme environments and harsh road conditions.
- Intelligence: fully self-developed HWP highway pilot assistance provides 22 driving-assistance functions and lifts overall vehicle safety by 67%. The smart cockpit debuts a commercial-vehicle AI voice large model plus DMS fatigue monitoring for more composed long-distance driving.
- Safety: a high-strength steel cage-type body certified to European regulations; the 6S6M braking scheme shortens braking distance by 18.5 m versus the industry norm; a vehicle–edge–cloud system provides full-lifecycle protection.
- Comfort: a 2.9 m-deep cab with 12 m³ of living space; air suspension and four-point floating mounts reduce vibration by 25%, with NVH and interior odour standards aligned to passenger cars.
Beyond the vehicle itself, Xinghai is backed by a full-chain zero-carbon ecosystem built to flagship standards. On the energy side, a "source–grid–load–storage" coordinated green charging ecosystem offers three categories of site-specific charging solutions, with strategic partners, dealers and charging-pile makers advancing together to accelerate deployment of the megawatt ultra-fast charging network. On the manufacturing side, Foton's advanced production lines and full-process quality-control system underpin flagship build quality.
Pricing was announced at the event alongside six launch privileges, and pre-sales officially opened.
Cavana Lefu V7 — Extending Product Boundaries and Redefining Passenger Mobility
Built on the Master platform architecture, Foton Cavana Auto officially launched an entirely new category — the MPVan — merging the comfort and intelligence of a passenger car with the space and practicality of a van. It offers both the refinement and smart experience of a car and the load volume and commercial value of a van, purpose-built for passenger transport. As the first product of the MPVan category, the Lefu V7 precisely fits route-based passenger services, tourism coaches, business reception, camper and travel conversions, and commuter shuttles.

- Mighty Presence — a commanding, elegant cabin. A stately exterior pairs with a refined interior; power sliding doors open silently, a 1,450 mm-wide door and 413 mm single-step entry make boarding easy and dignified, and the 7-seat version's 845 mm-deep luggage area swallows ten trolley cases.
- Master Performance — confident capability. Two battery options (100 kWh and 83 kWh) with CLTC range up to 536 km and 20%–80% fast charging in 18 minutes. A fully enclosed cage-type body uses more than 68% high-strength steel, backed by a three-electric-system warranty of up to 10 years / 1,000,000 km for commercial operators.
- More Pleasure — an intelligent, comfortable journey. Cabin noise drops to 44 dB with the air conditioner running at idle — library-quiet. Driver assistance controls both speed and steering, easing long-haul fatigue while cutting accident and maintenance costs.
- Max & Pro — the professional's choice. Two battery capacities combine with flat-roof and mid-roof heights; a cold-region package, a commercial safety package and five body colours let operators match configurations precisely to their business.
In addition, Lefu V7 comes with full-lifecycle premium service delivering a complete, integrated capacity solution: 460 service outlets nationwide, a service radius of under 30 km, a 7×24 support system, 3-minute response and 2-hour on-site rescue. Through the telematics platform, in-vehicle intelligent data terminals and service-station work-order systems, Cavana provides predictive, proactive servicing.
