BAIC Foton Europe Strategy released at IAA Hannover

Grounded in a long-termism development philosophy, BAIC Foton adheres to the principle of "In Europe, For Europe," closely matching the real operating scenarios of European users. Around three dimensions — localized product adaptation, building overall ecosystem solution capability, and co-creation with deep local operations — the company is steadily establishing localized systemic capabilities to serve European commercial vehicle customers in a systematic way.

On the product front, BAIC Foton leverages differentiated multi-brand positioning, precisely benchmarking Europe's stringent regulatory standards, road conditions, and user operating needs, with a focus on three technology routes — battery electric, hybrid, and hydrogen — covering heavy trucks, buses, light vehicles, pickups and more. Products are continuously iterated on native new-energy dedicated platforms to precisely fit European local operating scenarios, delivering customized commercial vehicle solutions with high adaptability, high reliability, and high energy efficiency.

On ecosystem building, BAIC Foton will focus on constructing a localized new-energy ecosystem in Europe. Through self-built, co-built, and interconnected models, it will develop full-chain supporting capabilities covering energy replenishment, vehicle operation, and aftermarket services, working in deep synergy with local European partners to continuously strengthen the core competitive advantage of its comprehensive global service system and provide a solid guarantee for the overseas operation of new-energy commercial vehicles.

On localization, investment will keep increasing across channels, services, and R&D/manufacturing. BAIC Foton has currently established sales and service networks in nearly 20 European markets and plans to achieve full coverage of major European markets by 2028. For service and parts networks, one regional parts center has been set up in Germany, and national parts warehouses have been built in 17 countries including the UK, France, and Hungary. At present, the total number of service outlets across Europe exceeds 300, and the company will accelerate the deployment and investment of service and parts networks together with European partners to improve coverage and capability.

On R&D and manufacturing, BAIC Foton plans to build one local European technology center focused on uncovering local needs and defining products; local assembly in Europe is planned to be realized by 2028, ensuring that complete vehicles and components fully comply with EU regulations, while additional local subsidiaries will be established to support European customers.

Upholding a philosophy of long-termism, symbiosis, and win-win development, BAIC Foton continues to support the green transformation of Europe's transportation industry with low-carbon holistic solutions. By persisting in long-term local cultivation — further investing in local capability building, local resources and talent, product localization and manufacturing localization — and by integrating local industrial resources and coordinating with full value-chain partners, the company is building a sustainable smart logistics ecosystem. While achieving high-quality corporate development, it remains committed to integrating into local communities and cultures, and, with an open posture, creating a new future for the logistics industry together with global partners.

Cavon BEACON Makes Overseas Premiere, Redefining the Benchmark for Zero-Carbon Intelligent Long-Haul Heavy Trucks

As the global carbon-neutrality process accelerates, the green transition of trunk logistics has become urgent, and new-energy heavy trucks are facing vast development opportunities. At this launch event, Wu Zongtian, President of BAIC Foton's Overseas Business Division, officially unveiled the Cavon BEACON — a luxury flagship heavy truck for trunk logistics — setting a new global standard for high-end zero-carbon long-haul trucks with its core advantages in cutting-edge technology, superior energy efficiency, intelligent experience, and ultra-long durability.

Cavon BEACON overseas premiere at IAA Hannover 2026

Built on a native dual-energy platform compatible with both hydrogen and electricity, the Cavon BEACON establishes three new core architectures — body, electronic/electrical, and chassis. By combining different cabs, electric drive axles, batteries, and fuel cells, it accommodates both pure-electric and hydrogen-fuel technology routes, forming 15 platform vehicle categories and delivering a full-scenario new-energy solution.

With an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.28, combined with a high-efficiency powertrain, scenario-adaptive control strategies, and a highly integrated predictive thermal management system, overall vehicle energy consumption is reduced by 15%. The 6×4 pure-electric model achieves a minimum energy consumption of only 115 kWh per 100 km, the 4×2 model only 105 kWh per 100 km, and the 6×4 hydrogen model consumes just 7.6 kg of hydrogen per 100 km. The electric version breaks through a 600 km range, while the hydrogen model exceeds 1,000 km — removing the barriers to new-energy heavy truck trunk operations. On replenishment and range, it uses an industry-mass-produced 800V vehicle voltage platform with 1.44 MW ultra-fast charging: 6 minutes of charging adds 100 km of range, and 18 minutes takes the battery from 20% to 80%. Refueling with hydrogen takes 15 minutes for a range of over 1,000 km. On durability, the traction battery reaches a B10 life of 2 million km, while the fuel cell and electric drive axle both exceed 1.6 million km.
